School Play ‘Divided City’ – Summer Term 2015
In July, our students performed the play ‘Divided City’, written by Theresa Breslin, adapted by Martin Travers and performed with the permission of Knight Hall Agency Ltd.
The play is about a city divided by religion, race, wealth and…..football! Joe and Graham are from two different sides of the city but both want to play football for the same team – Glasgow City – but when Graham witnesses a violent attack on an asylum seeker called Katya, this changes everything as the two boys are drawn into keeping Katya’s secret and helping her and her friend Leanne. The play is set in Glasgow and has the sectarian divisions between the Catholic and Protestant communities there at its heart. As a cast we knew that telling the story of these divisions was important but we have also come to realise that the story of the city of Glasgow is the story of many cities, towns and communities across the world and that the story of how Graham, Joe, Katya and Leanne find their own way forward in a world divided by difference is also our story.

We would like to invite parents of all children currently in Year 5 and Year 6 to attend our Open Evening on Wednesday 27 September between 6pm and 8pm. Choosing a secondary school for your son/daughter is an important decision and this evening should provide the information you will need.
During the evening there will be an opportunity to look round Hasland Hall, to meet staff in the different teaching areas and to listen to a short presentation from the Headteacher.
