World Book Day – Spring Term 2017
This year, on the 2 March, Hasland Hall celebrated the 20th World Book Day with a host of activities and events. The week kicked off with a tricky Tutor Group Quiz (no internet allowed!) and ‘Blind Date With A Book’. The Librarian, Mrs Thompson, was stunned to almost run out of books by break time on Monday! As the week progressed, the competitive nature of the students was clear as the entries for the quiz quickly piled up with students competing in the hope of winning a Tutor time audiobook.
On the big day itself, many staff members dressed as a character from a book or brought in key props from stories. Again, the eager students were racing to be the first to hunt down as many characters as possible – keen to be one of the lucky prize winners. The week ended with a ‘Who’s Reading?’ quiz (with a display created by the students themselves); creating bookmarks and the final loans for ‘Blind Date’.
A new Community Choir, meeting every Tuesday from 7.00pm to 8.30pm at the school, is soon to be launched. The aim is to bring together people from the community who would like to share the enjoyment of singing together.
The first gathering will take place on Tuesday 28 November in the Music block. If you are interested in finding out more, please contact the school on 01246 273985 or by email: email@example.com.
