Beats and Bars – Summer Term 2015
Students from Years 7 and 8 have played the opening notes in a project which will enable them to produce and professionally record their own compositions. The project, called Beats and Bars, is led by Rukus and Dwiine from Derby-based music group Baby People. Students took part in taster lessons, using new software, which quickly allowed them to drag and drop musical elements into a digital file.
Students were impressed with the taster sessions, which encouraged many of them to sign up for the extended project taking place over the Summer term, finishing with a performance and recording. The only signing Rukus and Dwiine had to do was of autographs for the excited students.
