Team Sixteen – Summer Term 2015
Team Sixteen is a new intra-school football programme run by The Football Association and through the Derbyshire FA.
Hasland Hall is the only school in North-East Derbyshire that has signed up to the project and this is something that has never been done by our school before. The programme is being run by the Year 10 School Sports Committee, which consists of the Silver Sports Ambassadors.
The rationale behind it is to get as many students involved in sport as possible, but it also provides an opportunity for the older students to develop their leadership and organisational skills.
So far, the school has run a Year 7 boys’ football tournament over 5 weeks. All seven tutor groups arrived with their full teams of up to 10 players, which consisted of both regular and non-regular footballers. The tournament ended in a big success as everyone enjoyed the competition and tried their best during the games.
One student commented ‘I’ve loved Team Sixteen and I hope that I get a chance to take part in it in the future’.
The whole Sports Committee congratulated the winning team which was tutor group 7SO.
The coming weeks will bring more opportunities for more year groups to participate in this event.
